Join Space United as we return to Medellín, Colombia for our 3rd consecutive year — mentoring 450+ students and engaging 1,000+ guests at the 3rd Annual ALAS* Colombian Rocketry Competition, playing soccer with the local community, and embracing the culture of one of Latin America's most vibrant cities. Shared with a group of passionate ambassadors who believe space belongs to everyone.

*Aerospace Latin America Suborbitals (ALAS): The ALAS Colombian Rocketry Competition is an international engineering competition where students from middle school through university design, build, and launch solid-propellant rockets under real-world aerospace standards.

Your 8-Day PROGRAM

OCT 21

Day 1 — Arrival day

Group arrival, hotel check-in, and welcome dinner. Mission briefing and orientation with the Space United team — meet your fellow ambassadors and get ready for what's ahead.


OCT 22

Day 2 — Medellín city immersion

Morning spent exploring Medellín's most iconic landmarks — Metro Cable, local coffee shops, and a taste of the city's food culture. Afternoon: local cuisine and competition briefing with the ALAS organizing team. Evening: a taste of Medellín's vibrant nightlife with an early ambassador dinner.


OCT 23

Day 3 — ALAS ROCKET Competition Day 1: student feedback & rocket judging 🚀

Morning: Space United ambassadors join a speaker series alongside students, families, and media in attendance. Afternoon: ambassadors work in small groups engaging student teams across middle school, high school, and university levels — providing technical feedback as teams prep for launch day. Points are tabulated based on ALAS design and mission criteria. Evening: ambassador team dinner for a Day 1 debrief over local food and a night out in the city.


OCT 24

Day 4 — ALAS ROCKET Competition Day 2: middle & high school launch day 🚀

Ambassadors support ALAS staff as middle school and high school teams take turns launching their rockets. Members of the Colombian Air Force participate in recovery efforts as rockets return to the landing radius. Afternoon: lunch with student groups and staff, followed by a friendly street soccer match with students and community members. Space United ambassadors participate in a soccer gear and merch giveaway with students and locals.


OCT 25

Day 5 — ALAS ROCKET Competition Day 3: university launch day & awards ceremony 🚀 🏆

Ambassadors support ALAS staff as middle school and high school teams take turns launching their rockets. Members of the Colombian Air Force participate in recovery efforts as rockets return to the landing radius. Afternoon: lunch with student groups and staff, followed by a friendly street soccer match with students and community members. Space United ambassadors participate in a soccer gear and merch giveaway with students and locals.


OCT 26

Day 6 — Free day or group excursion (ambassador vote)

An unstructured day to recharge and explore on your own terms. If the group is up for it, options include a day trip to Piedra del Peñol in Guatapé, a walking tour of Comuna 13, a city food tour, or local shopping.


OCT 27

Day 7 — Exhibition soccer match & closing dinner

Morning: optional training session. Then join as a player or fan as Space United takes the pitch in an exhibition match against local soccer talent — ex-professional players and club staff. The day opens with Space United's "The Future of Soccer in Space" workshop for local youth soccer academies before the match kicks off. Evening: closing group dinner with reflections, stories, and a look ahead at what's next for the Mission Series.


OCT 28

Day 8 — Departures

Closing breakfast and group goodbyes. Extend your stay independently to keep exploring Colombia on your own terms.
