FOUNDER & CEO

Camilo Tobacia is an engineer and entrepreneur currently leading Manufacturing Engineering at Blue Origin for New Shepard, a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line. Camilo graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s in Aerospace Engineering and has over 15 years of experience working in Production and Spacecraft Vehicle Integration at both Blue Origin and SpaceX.

Prior to his engineering career, Camilo established himself as a soccer athlete and was a former youth professional soccer player in his home country of Colombia. Camilo’s unique life experiences inspired him to unite his passions of soccer and space to transform how global communities connect with STEM and to help open inclusive access to STEM education. As a result, he founded Space United, an organization leveraging sports to uplift communities while advancing the development of sports in space. Camilo leads business development for a professional soccer club, and serves as chairman of the non-profit foundation Goal for Launch, which aims to inspire underrepresented youth to pursue careers in STEM through the intersection of space and soccer.

In recent developments, Space United established a global network of soccer clubs, which bring together space professionals, students, educators, and enthusiasts while providing mentorships and access to space opportunities both on and off the field.

For Camilo, forming Space United has been a realization of his deepest passions, including the chance for him to give back to society. The combined forces of soccer and academics have given him so much positive purpose that even through tough moments, he was able to stay on the right track. Through his work with Blue Origin and Space United and the Soccer Academy, Camilo hopes to spread the inspirational forces of soccer and academics and give children around the world the tools to shape meaningful futures.
